I am a South African medical doctor with an obsession with pink lifelong passion for good food.  I decided to go vegan in June 2013 and this blog is about my journey to veganism with a focus on good food, good health and enjoying every bite of every meal without ever feeling deprived.  I am also severely gluten intolerant and therefore all recipes on my blog are gluten-free too.  If you are not gluten intolerant, feel free to substitute gluten-free ingredients with glutinous flours/pastas etc.  I believe firmly that the best state of health is achieved by consuming as wide a variety of plant-based nutrients as possible, while avoiding processed foods wherever possible.  For this reason, most of my recipes are refined sugar-free (rather using natural sugars like dates/stevia/bananas etc) and use predominantly wholefood ingredients.

Get healthy!  Go vegan!

Hi, T. What a fab idea – getting your Yuffy’s-Now-Vegan food ideas and comments onto a blog. Looks great (we just LOVE that you’re blogging in pink – no other colour could possible have done the trick or hit the spot, huh?) Have a great time sharing your veganistic-ways wrapped in pink with us. Love it. Smooches, B+R. PS: Gonna try the breakfast pudding soonest!!!!! PPS: Found vegan Choc Brownie recipies, flour replaced by cauliflower in the one and by black beans in the other. Weird, huh? Makes you wanna try out the recipies just cause… well, they’re WEIRD!!! If they’re any good, I’ll send you the links, K. Hugs, R

    Hallo Dr T.

We have a vegan facebook group here in SA called Boere Vegans (slightly tongue in the check …. if Boere mense soos ek en my man kan vegan wees, dan kan almal in hierdie land dit doen)

Our more than 2000 members are always looking for gp’s that are vegan, or at least vegetarian.

We are compiling a list, and it would be great if you would not mind if we added your info

Do you know of any other Vegan/vegetarian doctors in SA that we could perhaps add to the list?

    Kind regards

    Mignonne van Heerden

      Hi there

As a vegan boere meisie myself, I appreciate the sentiment:D Currently I am working at a private practice at the University of the Western Cape. To make an appointment with me, call 021 959 2875/6 and ask to make an appointment with Dr Seegers. Unfortunately I do not know of any other vegetarian or vegan doctors in South Africa, but if I meet one I will let you know:)

Thanks so much for contacting me and stay in touch

Hi Doc, big fan of your recipes and thanks for listing the Cape Town restaurants that are veg friendly!

I was wondering if you have any clients that need special attention with regards to weight loss? I’m a nutritionist and weight loss coach that help women who struggle with weight loss find their perfect diet. I would love a referral and I’m happy to refer clients with serious ailments to yourself? Keep up the good work with the blog. Cheers PS: Happy to meet and chat further if you so wish
