Why vegan?

There are many reasons why I promote a vegan lifestyle.  These are some of them:

1)     Research is showing more and more the superiority of a vegan diet over a meat-eating and even a vegetarian diet in terms of health

2)     It does not support cruelty to animals.  For more information on this topic, click here.  I also strongly encourage you to read this essay which is very well-written and informative.  Once you have read this essay, you will understand the reason I am a dedicated vegan for life.

3)     It is better for the environment.

I personally became vegan for the animals.  When I discovered the cruelty that animals are subjected to before they become meat for human consumption, I became vegetarian.  After learning the facts of what really happens on dairy farms and to the chickens that lay our eggs – I decided to become vegan.  I was petrified initially!  I could not imagine life without eggs and dairy – what about desserts?!  I soon discovered though, that there are wonderful ways to get around preparing delicious meals without any animal products and have never looked back since.  Although I initially only made this change for the sake of the animals, the health benefits have been an incredible bonus.  For more information on the health benefits of a plant-based diet, click here.

Hi. I am from Move Beyond factory Farming, we are a non profit drive recently formed to educate people on the cruel practices in factory farming. Besides the incredible suffering of the animals, the health issues of consuming animal products is something that we are helping people to understand. To make the connection. We are helping to educate and motivate people to make better, healthier food choices. Would you be interested in writing an article for us on the health issues and illness and disease caused? We can publish it on our website which is still in progress. We are doing a protest in Johannesburg 7th November in Fourways, our Facebook page is Stop Factory farming protest, Fourways, JHB. I think for people to see your advice as a Doctor gives the health issues a bit more weight and will bring about much change! People have never been so sick and depressed! Thank you and hope to hear from you. All the best, Nikki Benson
